Report: PM says Moldova wants joint debt audit with Gazprom
CHISINAU, Oct 26 (PRIME) -- Moldova wants to carry out an audit of Moldovagaz’ debt together with Russian gas giant Gazprom to understand its size, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita told Pro TV late on Monday.
"We are ready to pay part of the debt in a period of time. But we don't know how this debt was accrued. We want an audit, perhaps, a joint audit with Gazprom, in order to see the full amount of the debt and understand how to pay it," the official said.
Gazprom earlier said that it was ready to continue deliveries to Moldova only if the country redeems the U.S. $700 million debt, or the supplies will be suspended from December 1.
Gavrilita also denied media reports that Moldova did not sign agreements with Ukraine's Naftogaz to receive up to 700 million cubic meters of gas.
